Nestor Kruger, DAAD Exchange Professor University of Guelph

In the past, my work consisted primarily of affecting a viewer’s experience of space through a combination of wall painting, sculpture and digital animation. This work typically used strategies of mirroring, duplication and rhythmic audio patterns as a way to loosen the image from its support. My current project involves a series of text works that use a simple cryptographic method to collapse a message into an image. I have an interest in exploring different binaries, such as form/content, up/down, subject/object, and finding ways to both attenuate these connections and create new ones.
